It took nearly nine months to complete a 25 KW micro hydro-power unit in village Shonial of District Swat. The MHP has been established by SRSP with funding assistance under the Programme for Economic Advancement and Community Empowerment (PEACE) from the European Union. The energy is used for lighting, charging mobile, and running other electrical appliances at home.
The Power Committee performs different functions including managing the operation and maintenance of the unit, managing power load, keeping the power channel clean, approving new connections, managing monthly tariffs, etc.
The power station was established with a cost of PKR 4,868,862 and benefits 160 households in the village. Out of this, project has contributed PKR 4,343,262, while community share is PKR 525,600.
